8 Ways to Increase your luck for the Dragon Year

Chinese New Year is very near andeveryone is talking about how to increase their luck 升運or 開運. I am will keepit short and straight to the point. Here are 8 ways to increase yourluck for the coming Dragon Year.

Charity. Most of the time when a person tries to increase their luck through spiritual means, they will encounter obstacles or difficult to complete the required practice. This has to do with the person's individual merit in their destiny. Just like borrowing from a bank, everyone has their credit rating. If you don't consistently increase your merits, you will definitely encounter no result when you try to achieve it through spiritual means. Charity of any kind is a good start to increase your luck, once you increase your capacity for good luck, it will be easier to ask for divine intervention!
Increase of luck can also be done through REQUEST with specific Deities in Taoism. Base on your Chinese Zodiac sign, there is a specific deities within the Taoist pantheon that is responsible to 'look after' you for this particular year. Therefore you have to ask in the right places. Below are the list on which Taoist Deity to request for an increase in luck for Dragon Year.
Sponsor a Buddhist or Taoist statue in temple. Sponsoring of statue in temple is like a fixed deposit that keeps on growing. Because as long as the statue is in the temple, and it is benefiting others through its image or inherent spiritual energy, parts of the merits will go to you. Sponsoring of big statues are difficult because not everyone has the first hand information in order for you to contribute your share. Therefore sponsoring even a small statue that will be place in a temple is a good way to keep the flow of good luck to you.
Feng Shui ready your house and office. Living and working in harmony with the surrounding energy of your home and office is one way to increase your luck. Using the environment energy to suit your own destiny make up is like a plane flying with a strong tail wind, you will arrive at whatever goals you set much faster, easier and effortless.
Before knowing how to live in harmony with your environment, you must first able to know what are your own personal cycles and timing. Check your Destiny through a good analyst, find when you should go all the way, and when to just lay low is winning more than half of the game in your individual destiny.
This method is long and tedious for some, but it works. Chant specific Buddhist mantra in thousands or millions – it will definitely help eliminate your past baggage of bad merits.

Take a Flower Shower! :) Buy 7 or 9 types of flowers, the flower itself must not have torns and Lily is a MUST in your flower grouping. Theory of the Flower Shower is simple, flowers are Yang and vibrant energy, shower with it and it will wash away any 'foggy' energy that you have stuck in your own energy field. If you are really foggy, best is to add some Epsom salt into the mix. Both of this will definitely cleanse and recharge your own energy field.
During Chinese New Year, on the first day – travel to a favorable Qi spot base on 奇門遁甲 – harness the energy of that bi-hour then you are set for the following week. For this year, on the first day of Chinese New Year from 9am – 11am you can travel to a NORTH location from your house for your Chinese Year visit. This will gather a boost of Qi for yourself in that week.

Papa, I saw white shadows

On Dec 10 evening, I receive an SMS from Jack who is now a temple member.(Earlier accounts of Jack's encounter) He told me that her 6 years old daughter have been telling him that for the past few days she dreamt of ghost in her dreams. And also dreamt a white ghost sleeping next to her.

And according to him, the daughter cried while relaying her experience. He asked me to 'investigate' for him whether there is any truth in her story. Because Jack and his wife are now chanting certain Buddhas mantra in their daily practice. So for him, he cannot feel any spirit in his surrounding which is why he is suspicious of his daughter's story. Nevertheless, during this period, his daughter would 'stick' to them like glue whenever they are in the house. And she would feel miserable if left alone, when she is out of the house, she was instantly more cheerful.

I went into meditative stabilization the next morning and indeed saw what his daughter have seen or what she have dream. When I am conscious, I double check with my Metal Shell oracle and my Deities also confirmed my findings. Initially, I was thinking of maybe just remotely handling the 'case' for Jack and that would not require any ingestion of talisman. However, when I double confirm with my Deities, they instintively let me know that I cannot be done remotely.

I immediately drawn up 3 Liu Ren Talisman 六壬除邪符 for clearing evil and bad qi. Jack came by and took it back for his daughter to be burn and drink consecutively for 3 days.

After 3 days, I receive a call from my wife whom have met up with Jack's wife. My wife told me that Jack's daughter is still crying. I was very puzzled, because after ingesting 3 talisman - everything should have cleared. Then I've told Jack to bring her daughter to our temple on Thursday evening on the same week. However by afternoon, Jack's wife message me again saying that her daughter is quite back to her old self.

Just to make sure, I asked them to bring the daughter to the temple as arranged. When I saw the little girl in temple, first quick glance, I saw a very light green patch of qi on her forehead. This is one of the tell tale signs that she have had a brush with spirits. It is not very evident, meaning it is just and encounter and nothing very serious.

I have specifically drawn up another talisman for her to ingest in the temple, and make sure she drank the whole of the small cup. What majority of the peoples' perception when comes to drinking burn talisman in water is that, they have idea that a little sip would be enough. In actual fact, one should drink the whole cup including all the residue. When I give specific talisman for ingestion to my disciples, they would need to drink 'everything'. That is to guarantee the passing of the Taoist Fa into the body.

After ingesting the talisman, I've also use a paper cutout as representation of the girl. Then using Tao Fa, to transfer all the bad qi onto the paper representation.

Then I inscribe certain specific mantra on her forehead and put a deities seal on it. All of this of course cannot be seen with the naked eye.

I have followed up with Jack and his wife after few days, and according to them their daughter is back to her old self and willing to sleep in her own room.

How was the little girl expose to spirit? Well it happens that the parent had to go for relatives wedding that was held out of Penang. And after the wedding, they did not stay for the night but did a late night trip back to their home. She must have been exposed during the trip. Children are more susceptible is because their Yang Qi is not at their peak yet.

Can cultivate both Taoism and Buddhism together?

When friends and relatives visit my home, the are often puzzled by 2 dominant altars that are located in my altar area. Primarily I have Taoist altar of 六壬 Liu Ren 風火院 Feng Huo Yuan and 伏英館 Fu Ying Guan. My Buddhist altar has many Tibetan Buddhist Statues.

Some who are outspoken will sometimes ask "How come you have 2 altars, will you get confuse?" Often, I just replied smilingly "Don't worry, the one who is praying is not confuse" and did not explain further or inform them how two can come together.

Well now, I am going to write a bit more on how these 2 can combine together. My initial lineage transmission is from Taoist Feng Huo Yuan. Then I have got interested into Buddhism and took refuge under Gelugpa lineage in Tibetan Buddhism from Tibetan Gurus. I have also took refuge with Gurus who have Nyingma and also Sakya lineage transmission.

Why didn't you give up on Taoism since you have already took refuge in Tibetan Buddhism? One of the most important teachings in Tibetan Buddhism is Guru Devotion. My first Guru are all the Deities in Taoism, without them I would not have discovered and took serious upon Buddhism. It is through their guidance, that I took refuge in Triple Jewels.

Deities in Taoism practice are actually all my Dharma protectors, if you look from a Buddhist perspective. Dharma protectors help cultivators overcome obstacles in life so that they can practice better without mundane disturbance of daily life. And I have a lot of Dharma protectors that have 'spiritual response' towards me. Spiritual response is a term used in Tibetan Buddhism for a person who have succeed in their practice with either Vajras, Boddhisattvas or Buddhas (elaboration of spiritual response need a whole new article to get into detail).

Therefore in our Taoist Temple 金洞山 Kam Dong San, everytime when we do distribute wealth enhancing talismans (招財符） or benefactors talisman（貴人符）. I have always followed by giving and explaining about merits, karma and the need to do some form of donations after they have obtain a spiritual response through the talisman.

Primary role of Deities in Taoism is to create more merits in their own cultivation. When we setup a temple for all the deities, public and members that have obstacles in life can and would come to ask for assistance from the Deities. If it is matter of righteousness or against evil, the Deities would act swiftly in solving those problems.

When it pertains to wealth matters, and asking for more wealth then Deities would evaluate on what is are the merits of the person and their karmic 'accounts'. When wealth is granted in Taoism, it is through converting of ones merit. Therefore, when we obtain more wealth through spiritual means, 99% of the time it is for you to gather even more merits with those wealth. Therefore it is crucial to maintain the momentum in an upward spiral, instead of spending all your merits from previous life. Money is also a form of energy, it cannot be created or destroyed - but it can be transform from one form to the other.

Hence, Taoist Deities allowed a person to request for help in life's daily problems. When we obtained the help, then we have to do more meritorious activity with our expanded financial capabilities. That is being congruent in our request and also our cultivation as a Taoist.

As a Buddhist, I have to do my daily practice that was passed down to me by my Gurus. Keeping strong Guru Devotion and Boddhisattva Vows. Help other sentient beings whenever possible, with 道法 Tao Fa, I can help more people and also brings them to a path of cultivation.

So back to the question, can I cultivate both Taoism and Buddhism together? Of course, if you can keep your vow, devotion, practice and promise. Otherwise you are threading into deep water....

Tao Fa 道法. You are wishing or you really want it?

This year, I have startedto take in disciples that have affinity to learn Tao Fa 道法. As our temple foundation principle is based on non-money demands forTaoist process, most of the disciples have to go through strictselection process. Therefore not many pass the selection process.

In Feng Shui career to date,I have about 400 students globally. Also not many when base onofficially started teaching about 6 years ago.

Learning TaoFa is different from those that are learning Feng Shui, Ba Zi or QiMen Dun Jia. Because in teaching Taoist Fa, disciples ultimately haveto rise up to the Deities expectation. Of course as a teacher, I toohave my expectations on them.

Thinking back to thedays, when I started learning Tao Fa – all my friend informed mewas that the temple in Ipoh (about 120km from Penang), will be havingtheir deity celebration. My friend Eddie said “It will be a goodopportunity for you to meet the Master, will you come to Ipoh?”Without any hesitation, in less than a day's notice, I drove all theway from Penang to Ipoh in the evening. When I arrived at the templeduring Jin Ying Zu Shi 金英祖師celebration， all themaster did was look at me. He told me that he will not go intomeditative stabilization to seek approval for my discipleship,because he already had some alcohol.

With that, I was alreadyvery glad that I had a chance to meet and at least enquire thepossibility. And because of the late night, I have to stay in Ipohfor a night before driving back to Penang the next morning. After Iwas initiated, every Friday evening I would drive to Ipoh to meetwith him and learn, and about 10:30pm at night – I would drive backto Penang again. This goes on for about 6 months or so. Never in mymind, did I view it as a chore or hassle because of the need totravel in the night to learn Tao Fa.

During the weekdays, Iwould need to do meditation on my own. Requirements on me was tomeditate in the wee hours of the morning, 3am-4am every day. I justdo it without any excuses whatsover. Bearing in mind, that when I wasinitiated, one of the prime directive in using Tao Fa is that I mustnot take any form of monetary reward for it. So all these work andeffort that ultimately cannot bring any form of money or career intomy life. Thinking back, most likely it is a past life imprint, for tohave so much interest and passion for something you cannot earn moneywith.

Anyhow, my disciples now have it verymuch easier than what I went through. For one, they do not have totravel and secondly they touch base with me almost everyday eitheronline or through the phone.

They also have a big place to gather inKam Dong San Temple, plus we have so many activities going on eachmonth. Possibility to learn is almost endless. Everything is providedfor them, and as a Master, I am not holding anything back.

My only regret is that, after taking indisciples, I have finally understood and experienced that Tao Fa isnot for everyone. I am also in agreement with previous masters that whyin the olden days, our lineage ancestors have so much restrictionsand also extremely difficult selection process. As the person usingreal Tao Fa have to shoulder the responsibility of not onlythemselves but also of nature and the Tao.

If you do not haveenough merits in your life, even if a master agree to teach you,undoubtely you will have many obstacles that appear such as event orpeople diverting you away from your learning. Some people will havetheir bad habits magnified in times that they need to havedisciplines in their life.

It is in these times, the power of thewill is one of the way for the person to overcome their learningobstacles. They will also need to do a lot of merit earningactivities so that they will be able to advance their study.

You will be face with the true realityof whether you are just wishing you can learn Tao Fa? or you reallywant to learn Tao Fa? Your answer is not how nice you can answer BUTit is in your ACTION.

Grandma, we are glad that you like your new blouse

During the lunar 7^th month,I was in Bangkok with temple members doing coffin donation charityfor ourselves and also on behalf of temple members and their family.Penny (one of our close friend and temple member) have casuallymentioned to us that she dreamt of her late grandma. I have casuallytold her that maybe her grandma needed some provision on the otherside.

When we got back to Penang, it wasclose to end of the lunar 7^th Month, at that time suddenlyI've also got some hints and decided to ask Penny whether she hadbought provision to burn for her grandma.

Within the day, she went to the josssticks shop and bought all the necessary provisions including newpaper clothes, gold papers, powders, rebirth mantra papers etc inpreparation to offer for her grandma.

Penny asked me whether anything sheshould recite or say when burning those offerings for her grandmabecause the ancestral tablet was not with her in Penang. I have justtold her that to think about her grandma when she burn thoseofferings, and added that why don't you ask Peter to help you out.Her husband, Peter is a disciple of our Kam Dong San Temple.

Therefore the next morning after ourconversation, Peter helped her burn those offerings by requesting ourTemple Deities to help in the confirmed delivery to her grandma.

Peter posted on my Taoist Disciple page the same day after burning the offering.

After the offering, Penny did wonderwhether her grandma did receive it. She told me that she didnt dreamtof her grandma anymore.

Anyhow, about 2 months after, Penny'sdad dreamt of her grandma wearing a beautiful floral blouse. Penny'sdad is also a Taoist cultivator. Her parent asked around the familyon whether anyone burn any offering to their grandma. But nobody haveburn anything matching the description of what his dad saw in thedream.

Then Penny realized that the blousedescription matches exactly one of the blouse which she offered to hergrandma, of course her dad have no idea what she burned for her grandmaas the offering was done in her own home.

Peter relayed to me last week, that when he burn the offering and request the help of our deities, he did it with 100% trust and faith that they will help him. Faith and trust in Kam Dong San deitieshave again show the efficacy of all the deities in helping membersand disciple.

Cheng Huang and Kam Dong San Deities, I bow with full respect

3 days ago, I received a call from a temple member. She was very happy that finally her shop have been sold.

She own the shop-lot for more than 12 years in a building that does not have any crowd traffic. She has been trying to sell the shop ever since 5 years ago. I have tried to negotiate with the local earth gods in the area to help her sell off her unit. After the negotiation, she did have a surge of people coming to look at her shop-lot but did not turn into a sale.

Her shop is also hard to sell, because the developer had failed to obtain a strata title for their own individual units after all these years. And she refuse to pay the maintenance to the management due to this. As she was involved in court case with them. Finally they decide to sue her personally. She went to Kam Dong San Temple and request from Cheng Huang (City God) to help her out. She requested that Cheng Huang took up her case and help her solve big problems to become small problems and if small problems to become neutral. She also requested Kam Dong San Main Deities to help her.

Within 2 weeks, the shop that she tried to sell off for more than 5 years, suddenly have someone who is interested and immediately paid her a deposit for her shop-lot. Not only that, they paid her above market price for her unit. All in a time that she needed the money to settle with the management of the building.

I am very glad that it turn out wonderfully for her, as she is a long time supporter of our temple. Once again, Cheng Huang office works with super efficiency! I bow fully with great respect! 城隍和金洞山众位仙师大显威灵！

Newborns

Recently there have been quite few friends who have met with unhappy situations regarding their new born. Some have met with 'confinement nanny' who are incompetent which resulted in their babies experienced 'traumatic' care during their first few weeks in physical world.

Some encountered baby that have medical complications 1-2 weeks after being born. Nothing serious, but persistent problems.

In Taoist rituals, when a baby is being born into a family – the father of the child usually would have to do a simple praying and offerings to own ancestors as a form of notification and also request of protection for the newborn in their first month of birth.

Prayers and offerings items would include

5 types of fruits
Local cakes and desserts
Vegetarian dishes
Paper offerings

The person can include different sets of offerings as above for all the household deities.

For Buddhist rituals, the best is to do animal liberations and dedicate the merits to the newborn baby. Due to his or her birth, lives have been spared – this will generate merits for the child and also parent to help them alleviate sickness in their first few months after birth.

Rain Rain Go Away

Ability to request from the Heavens to stop rain or having rainfall is one of the many effects of cultivation either in Taoism, Buddhism and many other religious establishment of humanity.

My first experience of trying to affect the weather started 5 years ago. A friend from Indonesia passed me a rosary that belongs to a Al-Hikmah adept. One of the effects of the rosary is that one can affect the rain to stop or to shift rain clouds in about 3km radius.

Of course, I was very skeptical about the claim. During monsoon rain season, I would constantly test out the rosary. If it rains, I would request that the rain would stop – and after about 10 minutes the rain would automatically stop as if someone switch it off. I have tested it during heavy rain and it works as well. The limitation was the area that it affects, maximum was about 3km radius.

Then in my meditative stabilization, I would ask request from the deities, are there any methods in Taoism that I can use to stop rain. As I know, there are some talisman that we can burn and request for clear sky for a certain period of time, so important Taoist work could be carried out.

Then I started to practice on those methods. The methods that was taught to me, was to make storm clouds disappear. As a person in the internet age, I googled up whether there are similar methods globally by other religion or country. With no surprise, there was even many documented videos on Youtube.http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=making+clouds+disappear&aq=5&oq=making+clouds

It was really fun to practice, as I would see some storm clouds from afar, and then practice to make them dissipate and dissappear. When I was passed on the method, in my meditative stabilization, deities warned me that too much use of the method would cause weak health for me. As it involves projecting the heart chakra outwards onto the storm clouds. This method is the fastest, as it involves direct projection. Normally, from Taoism procedures, we would need some elaborate offerings, petition and also burning of talisman to request for good weather for a certain event.

About 1 month into the practice, I developed cough and further lead into bronchitis. There was even once in my sleep during that period, that my lungs got so congested that it feels as if I am was going to suffocate. I knew then that I have crossed the allowed threshold of my body. After through testing and knowing that it works, I have decided not to meddle with it anymore as the side effects was quite memorable till this day. A senior Taoist from another sect share with me that during his initial cultivation, he had also requested for rain to stop – for no apparent reason but just for fun. Instantly on the evening itself, he was punished by his Taoist deities to kneel in front of altar for a period of time, which he cannot stand up consciously.

As I do Buddhist practice of Smoke Offerings to pretas, local land gods, dragon kings and others, I have also notice that if it was about to rain and I started my practice – the there would be no rainfall for the whole evening even though there are heavy clouds with thunder and lightning. I have observed this many times, sometime even though it started to rain for about 1 minute and if I preservered in doing the practice, the rain would cease immediately. This is almost 95% of the time. This practice requires to be done outdoor, if it rains, then the practice cannot continue. I would attribute it to the generosity of the land, mountain, river and dragon kings for allowing the practice to complete. My friend who also do practice of Rice and Water Offerings, also experience the same effect.

In our Kam Dong San Temple recent fish liberation, it is the first time that we encountered some shower rain for our liberation activities. After we have setup the altar, I requested for the local land and mountain gods to allow our liberation activities to continue without any further rain. In which I have also requested our Kam Dong San deities to assist.

Then using 法 Fa, I draw 2 separate 花字 (Hua Zi) Taoist Symbol onto 2 heavy clouds on the sky. Within 10 minutes the rain stop, clouds dissipate, sky cleared and we were able to continue on with our liberation activities. Very glad that all our spiritual friends assisted on that day!

Understanding that everything happen for a reason, be it rain or sunshine – my own preference is to let nature takes it's course unless absolutely necessary.

Understanding Taoist Talisman

In spiritual Taoism, most often you will see paper talisman being used, commonly called FU 符.

Talisman in Taoism is an official way to communicate with different deities and spirits. Of course other cultures would use different methods such as chanting a specific verse or word, commonly known as mantra. Because of length of Chinese civilization, our culture already have characters since 2500BC to represent written communication. Therefore in Taoism, written words are used as the main form of communication medium with the higher deities.

If you look at different countries in South East Asia such as Cambodia, their main communication medium with deities and spirits is through chanting of mantras. Some Thai monks and Thai occult masters would usually make their journey up to Cambodia to learn different types of magic. It is said that Khmer language is more suitable for magic as compared to the Thai language. Most of the katha (Thai language for mantra) that are used today are still mainly in Khmer language.

Bomoh (Malay language for Malay Shaman) would use the words and alphabets in the Quran to help heal those who are afflicted with spiritual disturbance. And the list goes on for different cultures with their different methods.

For some, they would find it hard to believe or puzzled on how that a simple drawing on a yellow piece of paper be able to help spiritually. The criteria and preparation to draw a talisman is not as simple as your normal art or calligraphy hobby. Far far from what you expect.

1st Criteria

The person must be initiated into a Taoist lineage. If the person is not initiated in a Taoist lineage, the talisman is just a piece of art or nice calligraphy. Initiation is to open up the communication channel between the person and the Deities of a specific Taoist Sect.

2nd Criteria

The person must have received a collection of talisman that has being passed down through the generations after they are initiated and qualified to use the talisman.

After the above 2 criteria is fulfilled, the person can only be considered potentially qualified to use talisman. Why only potential? Because the person would then need to ingest more than 100 types of talisman - ranging from protection, summon, suppress, cast off, balancing and also controlling types of talisman into their body upon qualifying to use talisman.

After which every month they would need to ingest about 60 talisman to maintain and build up their spiritual qi reserve.

If the person is a bit lazy or likes to procrastinate, very soon they would not have the required spiritual reserve do to the various rituals. Just like a computer, no matter how good your CPU is (meaning the lineage transmission) if you have small size RAM, you cannot perform complex task and are easily drained.

Like any other religion, we are just the medium - in talisman execution however we have more freedom to deal and do spiritual process as compared to other types of spiritual Taoist as the rituals and process are usually locked and governed by the Deities.

Upon qualifying to draw the talisman, then comes the procedures of drawing the talisman.

Preparation:

1. Brush, water, ink, cinnabar must all be cleanse spiritually before they can be use to draw talisman.

2. Each piece of paper that is going to be used must be cleanse off through a specific mantra.

Actual Drawing:

1. Before drawing, the person have to request the deities to descend their energy on to the person by chanting specific mantra of the lineage. This is to inform the deities, that one of the disciple is now requesting the energy to do a spiritual process.

1. Each specific symbol on the talisman HEAD, BODY and BELT have a specific code and mantra that must be chanted while drawing the talisman. For example, when you see nice ribbon on the talisman, actually it has a specifc chant that the person must do when drawing it. It is similar to unlocking a specific door using a specific key code. Without this, the talisman is a useless piece of imitation.

2. After completing the talisman, then we would need to write different codes either in request or summoning layer upon layer on to the 符但 NERVE (black dot on the bottom) of the talisman. The NERVE is the soul of the talisman, if mistakes are done, it is also render useless. Therefore absolute concentration is needed, which also is one of the factor to determines how effective the talisman when it is being used. When all is done, then the drawing process is considered finish.

Officiating and Seal of Talisman:

1. When the drawing is complete, then we would need to put the deity seal 神印 onto the talisman. Again the person need request the deities energy to descend and then would chant specific mantra to seal different sections of the talisman.

Reporting and Energizing 敕符:

1. When all above is complete, the person will then have to take the talisman to the front of the deity and do the official reporting verbally through specific edicts. It is to inform the deities and the spiritual world that a specific talisman is being drawn.

2. After the reporting procedure, then the person would need to request the deities to descend the energy through them to energize the talisman at hand.

After all the above process, then only the talisman can be used or ingest. Hence, it is not as simple you may have expected.

Conventional talisman that is available on books or yearly Chinese almanac will not have the effect of a hand drawn talisman. By one simple reason alone, as those talisman have not gone through the official required process to call it a Talisman. Some even more outrageous as to ask the public to print out directly from the web!

I find it very peculiar and sad, when some of my Western students of Feng Shui or Qi Men Dun Jia decide to attend classes on how to draw talisman. There was even an incident last year, that one of my student pass me a Fu De Zheng Shen talisman 福德正神 in one of my teaching tour in Europe as he has attended the How to Draw Talisman Class. I do not know whether to laugh or cry, in the end I just accept it politely as a calligraphy effort by him.

So next time, when you request a talisman or being handed a talisman from a Taoist practitioner, learn to appreciate the work that it took to hand you the 'physical blessing' of the Deities.

Suspected of being Hex

Abour 2 months back, the organizer for my Feng Shui program in Malaysia informed me that one of my student was suddenly down with thyroid sickness and she experienced bloating.

The student group was actually quite worried about her and asked me to check whether there is some spiritual link to her sickness. Naturally, for most of the cases it will be due to the person's change of element in their destiny chart either yearly or their major luck period. This and add to Feng Shui influences would produce cases of sudden illness.

As I remember from her practical study during their class, there was not major mistakes in her household Feng Shui. From her destiny chart, there is some possibility of illness due to the year influence. Anyhow, I decide to do an oracle for her through the Taoist deities and check whether there is a spiritual influence due to her sickness.

Taoist oracle confirmed on the spiritual influence. Even though there is a spiritual influence, our advise to the person is always seek medical help and get second and third opinion on their medical condition.

I have then prepared several talisman for her to ingest and also a cloth talisman for her to carry with her. According to the oracle, she is suspected of being hex.

After she ingested the talisman, her feedback was she felt more energetic than before and started to have different dreams. One of the observation that I am evaluating, is to know what types of dreams she have after ingesting the talisman. This is for us to have further confirmation and the depth of the spiritual influence on her sickness.

After receiving her SMS communication last evening, I have further request from Liu Ren Xian Shi 六壬仙師 and draw a few talisman for her to totally clear the spiritual influence.

Recently, a friend's sister (M) decide to consult me on her BaZi. Before I met up with M, I was briefly informed on her situation. She would like to seek divorce from her husband and there some complication in the procedure.

Anyhow when I met up with her, I notice that in her BaZi , she will have the divorce and it is not a problem. However, she told me that she is trying to get a quick and clean divorce with property divided etc. As she is officially separated from her husband.

The husband on the other hand refuse to sign the divorce paper and also make demands on their co-owned property.

The more I listened to her predicament, the more I think she needs a good lawyer and not a destiny analysis. She told me she already have a lawyer processing the matter for her. BUT she wants things to get moving and her own property to be given back to her.

Finally, I have to go into meditative stabilization while asking to her and ask what can be done spiritually in this matter The answer I was given is to go seek the City God 城隍 help. So I advised her to just go to City God, tell her story in full and ask them to accept her case. I have briefly mentioned to her that if her case is genuine, they will act on it swiftly.

Later, I was informed after 2 days of reporting to City God, she started to see a dramatic change in her situation. What's the change? Well I cannot blog about it yet as it involved a criminal case being put forward.

Nevertheless, City God's office is still the most efficient I have seen, time and time again!

Retrieving Stolen Item by Spiritual Method

2 days ago, my wife place her empty small handbag on our side coffee table. The next day when she look for it, it is no longer there. After searching up and down for some time, she did not manage to find it.

The next day, out of disbelief I sectorized each location of the house and started searching, canvassing the whole house. After 2 hours plus, searched the whole house and still fail to find her handbag.

Usually on normal day to day living, I would be very reluctant to ask the deities for help in my mundane life experiences. On this matter however, it is impossible that an item can be missing, when no guest have come to our house.

So I went into meditative stabilization and ask 三教祖師, whether the item is being stolen. They confirmed. Then I ask our house Di Zhu 地主, also confirmed someone has taken it.

With this information, I filled up the official edict to request deities for help in locating the item and thief. Together with 5 Directional Catch Thief Talisman 五方捉賊符, I submitted the request at 3pm Sunday afternoon.

This method of retrieving stolen item, requires chanting every 2 hours. My last chant was at wee morning of Monday around 1 am before I go to bed. Then upon waking up, I chanted another session after my morning shower around 9am.

At 9:15am, our 2 domestic helper came to me and told me they have found my wife's handbag. One of them said she dreamt that the bag was beneath our bed. What she did not know was, I was looking under the bed just before my morning shower and did not see anything there. How did they find it there? I will leave it to you to piece up the puzzle.

Nevertheless I am very grateful that the deities came to our assistance. 大顯威靈！

How to Boost Your Wealth via spiritual practice for the Rabbit Year

Happy Chinese New Year! 恭喜发财！

What better way to start the new year than an article about creating some wealth through various spiritual practice (Taoist).

Chinese New Year and the usual greeting is Be Happy and Make More Money! Even though money is not everything, but without money many things are not possible.

So from a spiritual perspective, what is money? It is a form of energy. Some people can attract more of it while some people never seem to have enough.

Through Taoist spiritual 'magic' practice there are many ways to increase or have a boost of money energy. While the boost is big or small is also dependent on the person's destiny. Their capacity for wealth.

However there will be a boost nevertheless from the method that I am going to list down below.

Do It Yourself (DIY) Boost of wealth usually is through the request with several deities. Namely they are

Earth God or Land Deities commonly known as Tu Di Gong 土地公
Area Earth Deity known as Tua Pek Gong
Local Area Earth Deity known as Datuk Kong

Why all of them are Earth Deities? Earth deities are usually spirits that have some form of cultivation. Due to their need for further cultivation or just residing in the area because of the vast amount of offering by people in that area.

And because of their cultivation and offering of physical or mental by patrons. They have extra storage of energy. So with correct means, and their generosity, sometimes out of being impressed and kind they will transfer some of that energy to you.

So how do you go about DIY for boost of wealth through the Earth Deities? The first thing you will need is gold paper / gold paper ingots 金纸，大福金. These are for offering and burn for these deities.

You might ask, why do I need to offer more gold paper/gold paper ingots to them when I am suppose to be requesting wealth from them. In the spiritual and physical world, everything is in the form of energy ultimately. It just changes form.

So in order to request for some boost of wealth, you will need to first offer some energy in mental thoughts and physical form to the Earth Deities.

Here are some tips when you are DIY to request for wealth from Earth Deities.

Always make your offering after 12 noon. Earth Deities are more responsive when your request is done after-noon.
If possible, offer some paper deity clothes as well.
If you are requesting from your home earth god, use 5 josstick, make sure the tea cups are filled with fresh tea and if you have water cups, it is filled and change everyday.
Food offering can range from meat items to fruits. If possible, ask the person that installed the earth deity for your home to check for what is the favorite food of your earth god. Each house will have different earth god deity. Not every home is having the same deity.
When you know and offer their favourite offering, then the boost will be fast and swift!
Be generous with your offering. If you are stingy and offer 1 orange and expect a big boost in return then you will be greatly dissappointed even after years of offering!. You don't get anywhere by being stingy in the physical world, and it is the same in the spiritual world.

If you are requesting for boost of luck from Area Earth Deity or Local Area Earth Deity, always remember to start your prayers with self introduction. Informing the deity, your name and address.

Also do not expect, the request to be instantaneous. Usually it requires some time for the relationship to build up. Just like the bank, that looks at your credit rating. Earth Deities, look at your spiritual rating and persistency.

This method requires Earth Deity Talisman to make the request more potent.

Installed Earth Deity at home
5 colour josstick, to represent the 5 elements.
5-7 Requesting Wealth Earth Deity Talisman . Each to be burn every night between 11pm – 1am.
A general compass to know the 4 general direction – North, East, South and West of your home.

After determining all the 4 cardinal directions, light up the incense and place in order of EAST (Green), SOUTH (Red),WEST (Brown), NORTH(BLACKorBLUE) and CENTER (YELLOW).

Request that the 5 direction dragon earth deity collectively take their places. Then burn the talisman into the urn and make your request.

As money is a form of energy, sometimes the boost comes from your own destiny (in advance) and if you did not make the cycle of energy circulate between you and society, then your own storage will be depleted.

Making of Invisible child

Babies foetus discovery in one of Bangkok temple have shocked many especially those of us who are living in neighbouring countries.

Many asked, why would the caretaker want to keep so many baby foetus in the temple grounds(approx 1,700). Sources from the news confirmed that most of them comes from the abortion clinic.

From the spiritual aspect, the caretaker could have been keeping these baby foetus to earn a profit. In Thai spiritual practice or 'Visha', unborn babies usually those who have met with accidents or for some tragic reason unable to be born can be used to practice and develop into child spirit commonly known as 'Kumanthong/Gumanthong'.

These child spirits, are then invited by others so that they can ask and request these child spirits to help them in their daily life such as protecting their house and properties.

Generally there are 2 different types of Kumanthong, one that is blessed and consecrated by high monks and those consecrated by normal practitioners of magic which in Thailand they are called Ajahn (Master).

Famous monk that can consecrate effective Kumanthong is Luang Phor Tae from Wat SangNagm. He is known as the first generation 'makers' of Kumanthong. After he passed away he is then succeeded by his disciple Luang Phor Yam. However their style of Kumanthong will have ashes of foetus on the statue. These ashes are usually obtain with permission of the parent when they cremate their child in temple grounds.

These spirits have usually taken refuge in Buddhism, therefore they cannot be instructed to do activities that violates Dharma. Such as harm others or do things that are considered illegal.

Explanations from monks that made these Kumanthong is that, because of the spirits negative karma they cannot take human form and have many obstacles causing untimely death before being born. By consecrating them into Kumanthong, it is in hope that they will gain merits in this form by helping their owners. When their merits are enough, then they would be able to be re-born as human. Those that invite Kumanthong, usually will be given a long list of do's and don't and to treat the spirit as one of their own child.

Then there are those that are consecrated by Visha practitioners or Ajahn, will have to depend on their lineage. Some considered Kumanthong consecrated by Ajahn are more 'flexible' when they request them to do activities that borders on the grey area.

For this recent case however, the caretaker has kept these foetus on his own. Most likely he will sell those foetus to Visha practitioners as a form of 'raw materials'. Many Visha that involved binding of spirits will usually need some form of shell for them to contain the spirit.

Which is why, you can see in darker amulets created by these practitioners will usually contain body parts of the dead people.

However sometime the Kumanthong consecrated by Ajahn may not contain a child spirit but in fact have a full grown spirit bind to the statue. Because if a normal lay person, without any extensive practice or cultivation, will not know what is actually in those statues. And also how those spirits are bind. Some are forcefully bind by the black Visha Ajahn. Therefore, if handled misappropriately it will back fire on the person and his family.

Then there is another version of child spirit which is called Lukok. To consecrate these type of spirits, usually they need a full foetus instead of just ash or bones. Lukok is more fierce are the Ajahn used the spirit of the foetus and train it to perform whatever activities requested by him.

Some like to 'keep' Kumanthong to help them in sales, wooing of girls or guys and also increase their gambling luck.

Whether Kumanthong consecrated by these practitioners are effective or not is a very big question mark. Even with real Kumanthong, monks have informed that they cannot perform big task. They can only be requested to help in small ways such as looking out in the property, helping to draw some customers into shops etc.

They cannot make you rich beyond your dreams, because your potential is already indicated in your destiny.

In universal law of karma, any activities requesting these spirits to violate the Dharma, would then be accounted to their 'owners'. In the end everyone needs to settle their 'debts' one way or the other.

Animal Liberation - Paying up your karmic debts

Just received a call from my long term client last night. He updated me that his brother who is confirmed with prostate cancer stage 2, had recently undergo check up before his operation. Doctor has confirmed that his cancer cell has gone down to almost normal level.

About 2 months ago, his my client call me up and ask me to schedule a day so that I can fly to Johor Bahru to audit his brother's house. His brother is confirmed with cancer and he tried to do everything to help him.

Upon arrival at his home, I was informed that they just renovated their house after Chinese New Year 2010, and 3 months after that he went for medical check up and doctor confirmed he had cancer.

The house water exit and kitchen stove area is totally off for his Ba Zi- Chinese Astrrology base on year,month, day and time of birth. Even his sleeping position is wrong for his Ba Zi, although he has been sleeping in that location for almost 10 years. Health problems will usually surface when there is changes in the person's luck period. During good luck period, you will not notice much. However when the luck is not favorable, all of it will manifest.

After all Feng Shui suggestion, I sat personally with the couple and plainly told them their situation. When you are diagnosed with cancer, you will need all the leverage you can get.

1. Environment must be supportive - the qi is right for your recovery.
2. Changing your lifestyle and diet, because that is the thing that got you into this present problem.
3. Do a lot of animal liberation - destiny that you born with have some pre-determine factor, and that pre-determine factor is karma. Terminal desease is usually stems from manifestation or ripening of our bad karma. Karma in simplistic term means your debts to other sentient beings as a result of your previous action and intention.

Point 1 and 2 we have already settled, now to solve point 3, it needs a lot of your own effort. One of the most efficient way is through animal liberation. Benefiting other sentient beings so that they have a chance to be free from untimely death and suffering will create the cause for you to purify your bad karma.

They took my advice to heart, on the first animal liberation, they released 1000 birds. And have been doing it consistently. And from their feedback, it seems the purification is working powerfully with other things they have done.

Am I saying that animal liberation will cure cancer? No. It will reduce the cause of your desease and manifest and ripen your good karma. If it is not too severe, it will even help overcome the desease from the spiritual angle.

Sometimes it also takes good karma to read, understand and put to practice this information. Think about it and then start doing it!

Give Me MORE MONEY !!!

Most of the time when local Chinese community hear about a certain Taoist temple, their first question would ask whether the temple will give out lottery numbers.

Even in Buddhism, if certain bodhisatvas are referred to as granting wealth or can help with wealth, instantly it is a popular hit.

The correct way is not to request for wealth from deities or Buddhas. When you understand that money is a form of energy, then it is quite difficult to ask higher entities to 'make' energy and give it to you. Energy can only be transformed or by attracting more of it and it cannot be created or destroyed. In this way, what we can do is to request the help of deities to help in your attraction of wealth, clear the obstruction and blockage of energy that is coming to you.

In simple terms, request for more smoother flow in all things that you do. That will be more effective than asking "grant me more money pleaseeee!!!!"

And upon of receiving more energy (money) one of the motivation is so that you can help others. By giving back part of the energy to helps others it gets the cycle of energy flowing into your life. It also validates your ability to store more and more energy.

Too often times, patrons to temple will bring a few oranges or apples and then expect temple deities to grant them several thousand or even more from lottery. If we look it from an energy perspective, if the deities is running a business, they will run into bankruptcy very soon.

Do more meritorious deeds and participate in more activities that benefits others. It also makes it easier for the deities to help you convert those good merits when you need it the most.

Creating Causes of Bad Luck Through Killing Animals

Just completed teaching a 8 day training of Qi Men Dun Jia and San Yuan Feng Shui program in Moscow. Between tea and lunch break, it is usual for students to approach me with questions and also seek for opinion and advice.

Some even specifically asked for 15-20 minutes of my time as they have some pressing problems with their life. On this trip, 2 cases have specifically stood out. Therefore I think it is worthwhile for readers to also ponder on my advice to them.

One student came to me and asked me about her husband and his declining business. They have just moved into a new house 1 year ago. However his business started to go decline about 3 years ago. After looking at his BaZi chart, it is due to the changes of his luck cycle. Nevertheless, his luck supposedly has already improved but his situation became worst.

They moved into a house that have a fast moving river behind their property. Even though they have erected a high fence to cover it from view, this does not prevent the strong qi flow. Plus the landforms of their land is sloping on the wrong side, which also cause loss of wealth to the occupants.

While having a fast moving river behind a property is not easy to rectify, there are methods to do so and I have advice her on the method. But then how do we explain that his situation did not improve even though his luck supposedly change for the better? Fast moving rivers behind the house, in good luck years would not have such devastating effect.

I then started to ask her “Does your husband like fishing or hunting?” She told me her husband started hunting about 3 years ago as a hobby due to the decline of his business. I told her to advice her husband to stop hunting immediately. This is also a cause for their current situation. Each time he hunted an animal, he would usually pick the animal up after it has been shot. And on most cases, the animal is struggling in the last moment of death before being picked up by him. That creates a cause for these animal spirits to attach and be around the person. This can cause many problems to the person such as financial failure, more enemies in work or business.

The second case was from a client here in Moscow. They are also experiencing some financial difficulties. I was auditing their house Feng Shui and advice them accordingly. His destiny is going through 5 years good luck and 5 years declining luck. Whenever the decline happens, he would go into extreme financial problems. To the extent, that it cannot be gauge from the BaZi chart. Again I got to know that he also likes to hunt animals. I have strictly suggested to him to stop hunting for the current period.

If you like any forms of hobby that requires to kill another animal, be aware that those animal you kill will not just die and be a trophy on your wall. If you happen to kill an animal that have very violent nature or strong memory, that will create a cause for their spirit to attach to you. And when that happens, you have not much choice but to suffer the predicament of endless bad luck, beyond what is on your BaZi chart.

Few factors can directly influence our Destiny or BaZi chart.

1. Spiritual intervention – that does not happen often and it requires strict discipline and cultivation

2. Spirits and ghost – they do cause bad luck or interfere with your original destiny. However spirits (animal or human) cannot easily interfere with your life unless you have created the cause for them to do so.

3. Your environment – Feng Shui

4. Meritorious deeds – practice of generosity and charity for a better cause

You do not have to take my word, you can verify it on your own if you have doubts.

Encounters of 7th Lunar Month 2010

On the first day of 7^th Month I have received a call from fellow committee member of Kam Dong San Temple. According to Michael (not his real name) his mum had been possessed the night before. And Mr. Wong Soon Lee asked him to give me a call to let me know on the situation.

His account of the event was his mum woke up at exactly on 2:30am for the past two nights and her voiced changed and started to mumble some speech which the family members do not understand. At some point, his mum would become agitated and starting doing frantic movement. They try to hold her down, but she somehow got really strong. In normal day to day however, his mum do get shortness of breath from normal movement.

He told me that his mum had become really frantic Aug 10 morning. He called Mr. Wong Soon Lee from our temple, who is in charge of weekly spiritual consultation in the temple. When Soon Lee arrived in Michael's house in the wee of morning, his mum was quite frantic. Immediately Soon Lee went into a trance and request for his Spiritual Master – Master Lee Xian Shi to descend. In meditative stabilisation, Soon Lee was told that there is 2 spirit by Michael's mum. Immediately they got hold of one of the spirit but the other one got away. Soon Lee then proceed to spiritually seal all the opening of Michael's house.

Michael's mum was then awake and can recognize Soon Lee . Therefore ascertain that all is okay, Soon Lee then left Michael's house. However as soon as Soon Lee left, his mum become frantic again until 5 am in the morning. And when she woke up, she did not remember any of the incidence that happen in the early morning.

When Michael called me, I asked few questions

Did his mum had any medical condition?

Did she had any new medical prescription?

Where had she been 2 nights prior to this incident?

Had he taken his mum to the hospital for checkup?

First I have to make sure it was not related to a medical condition. Sometimes deep depression and schizophrenia can also exhibit the symptoms of possession. After confirming it was not a medical condition, I have asked Michael to forward me his mum's date of birth and time and also MMS over the photo of her mum.

I have also talked to Soon Lee on what other things he have noticed in during his time at his place. When I went into meditative stabilisation, I saw one spirit by the her mum and it originate from the ancestral urn. Michael's house does not make any offering to Taoist Deities or Buddha Statues. They only have Tian Gong, Ancestor and Earth Deity

Somehow malevolent spirits had managed to enter his ancestral urn and started some disturbances in his family. Usually these spirits will prey on the weakest spiritual mind in the household. As this year his mum's luck is very weak and fill with clashes.

I specifically remember that I had discussion with Soon Lee during Tai Sui Celebration that Michael's mum should request from Lord Tai Sui this year to avoid all mishaps. This is because when I consecrate the Tai Sui Lamp for his family, they did submit all family members BaZi. I had a quick glance on his mum's BaZi.

After which, under instruction from Kam Dong San deities I have drawn up 3 Liu Ren Xian Shi Talisman for her to consume for 3 consecutive day, 1 talisman of suppressing ghost and demon to hang in front of his house. And also Jiu Tian Xuan Nu talisman to burn onto sandalwood smoke to purify his house (this talisman was given out during Chinese New Year for spring cleaning and spiritual cleansing).

After his mum consume the talisman, on the first night she still woke up but did not became frantic and it was for a very short time only.

On the second night and third night she did not wake up. I still followed up with Michael and advice that his mum continue with flower bath until after 17 August. As she was quite weak luckwise and hence it affects her spiritual aura.

Spiritual disturbances are conditions that can cause us to have possessions and can wreak havoc in our life. But the main seed cause is from our karmic ties with those malevolent spirit. In our Taoist practice, we do not eliminate or destroy these malevolent when encountered. Usually is to ask them to leave before any confrontation is deemed necessary. If we destroy or eliminate them, then it will strengthen the karmic ties of these spirits with the person involved and also create new ties with ourselves.

The best way to prevent such problems and incidence in our life is to practice charity in monetary forms and also charity in spiritual forms. Charity in spiritual forms are such as light offering, food offering or statues dedication (statues of Buddhas,Bodhisatvas or Deities) to our karmic debtors.

Too many deities, Buddhas and Bodhisatvas is BAD for you!

After a very hectic period since last month, finally able to make some time to update this blog. Below is the photo of my altar at my new house.

I have ordered it about 10 months before finally arrived in time for my moving in. Ever since we move into this new house, some relatives or friends that have a chance to visit us, actually was quite taken a back by the altars at house top floor.

Some look around and quickly move descended towards the second floor. Some make single word comment such as ‘Wow!’ while others quietly at my back discuss with my wife or parent about how it is bad to have too many deity statues in the house. Even too many Buddha’s or bodhisattvas images are actually bad for a common household – according to them!

Well all this while ever since I have been initiated in Taoism- Kam Dong San – Feng Huo Yuan. I have had these many deities in my old house. In the old house, it is in a room instead of on a whole separate floor. Therefore not many people have a chance to view it.

Common folks especially in the local Chinese community have this belief that one should not have too many deities in the house, as it would cause havoc and dis-harmony in house. As those deities will fight among themselves and spill over the bad effects to the people living in the household.

Let me explain this ‘phenomena’.

When you just simply ask any Taoist priest or walk into any temple without knowing their background and ask them to consecrate a Taoist deity for you. There are possibilities they don’t know what they have consecrated into the deity for you. It could be some malevolent spirit. So this particular spirit is just happy that people in the house give good offering to it. When you consecrate another malevolent spirit, then they are not happy, because more spirit sharing the offering. Therefore these spirits have no cultivation whatsoever, solely relying on you to feed them. And when they have fights among each other, you will be the first to experience the after effects.

If an official Taoist deity, one who has reached the ‘Dao’ and still fight with each other for offerings or your prayers, then obviously they have NOT yet reached the Dao. It is better for you to ask them to make offerings to you rather than you make offerings to them!

Let’s be honest, in my line of job I have been to quite a few number of homes. And most people that pray to Taoist Deities usually will have empty teacups on the altar that was left to dry since last 1^st or 15^th of the lunar month. Some offered 1 orange/apple or sometime even forgot to offer anything. Do you think that Taoist deities survive on our petty offerings; they are so hungry for the fruits? Our offering is all in the thought that we project when we look at their consecrated statues.

Don’t try to analyze the deities’ thoughts or actions with our uncultivated heart or mind. If you can think like them, then others would make offerings to you religiously instead of you having to make offerings to those deities.

Others then like to make comments such as Buddhas and Bodhisattvas cannot be place near the deities. It will cause disturbance or havoc! Those are what I would like to call the street auntie and uncle philosophy on Buddhism and religion. They superimpose their thoughts and actions on the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

If Buddhas and Bodhisattvas can be jealous of other deities, then they have not reach the state of Buddhahood. Real Buddhas and Bodhisattvas would not be bothered by so ultra mundane problems and thoughts such as who and who will be jealous just because you have a new object of devotion. They are beyond all those attachments that you try to superimpose on them, that’s why they become Buddhas and Bodhisattvas while you and me still delve in Samsara.

I have so many deities in my Taoist altar is due to my affinity with them. I place them on the altar as a form of respect and also a reminder of my own need to be diligent in my own cultivation.

When I am able to cultivate and reached the Dao, then my Taoist altar would only have the 3 Pure Ones. As I am already reached the Dao and can communicate with any deities at will. Until that day arrives, the altar will remain the way it is.

As for my Tibetan Buddhist altar, it is a reminder to cultivate the Boddhicitta mind, to do my Buddhist practice and also to share the limited knowledge of Dharma I may have so that others would be able to plant some seed of Buddhahood in them, in this lifetime.

Having all these statues of deities, Buddhas and bodhisattvas also reduce and eliminates ones ego. When you are led to believe there is no god, no spirits, no deities, no ghost and no karma, that’s when you are in deep samsaric shit! Pardon my bluntness.

At the same time, I welcome all criticism and pointers from those that able to communicate with all the deities in my altar at will and see all the Buddhas and bodhisattvas on my altar their mind stream at will. Because I will then place your image next to them.

Until then, start examining your own life and your spirituality before passing judgment on others. May you be well and happy!

Another torn shirt....

Every once in a while there will be some friends or acquaintances approach me and ask “Do you want to teach students on how to draw talisman?” or “Do you want to take in protégé in Dao Fa 道法?

It looks attractive and interesting, being able to draw talisman and request for spiritual assistance for specific purposes through the Taoist Deities. Some even look at it as something to elevate their status among peers or friends, essentially being different from others.

If one follow the path of Dao Fa, establishing higher spiritual goals and also being in the lineage of evoking spiritual assistance there are basically 1 out of 3 options that the person will need to choose or being forced upon them. These 3 options in particular will serve as an exchange or as the path of entering the person’s spiritual goal(s) in Dao Fa.

What are these 3 options?
1. To live a life of poverty 2. To live a life of solidarity 3. To always wear torn clothes

All these 3 options are to reflect the imperfection of the person. By gaining the ability to request for spiritual assistance when and where it is needed, the person life shall not be perfect.

Living a life of poverty means that person will not be able to be rich from utilizing any of spiritual responsibility entrusted upon them. That is why, most that uses Dao Fa, as a career will not be wealthy.

To live a life of solidarity means that the person will not have children. There will not be future generations and in most cases the person will not be able to get married.

To always wear torn clothes is due to in the olden days if one were to wear torn clothes it means that they are someone who is not in high or medium status position in society. It is the least heavy options out of the 3.

When I was initiated into Dao Fa, my Taoist master told me that what you learn in Dao Fa could never directly be used to earn money from others. I think that is one way of our lineage by passing option 1. Nevertheless, I was not told of the remaining 2 options.

In some lineage, they will place these 3 options beneath a bowl and when the disciple is initiated, they will choose 1 out of 3 and the chosen option will be set for life. There are some that their option will be chosen by their Master who initiate them into Dao Fa.

For my case, I started to slowly find out on my own. Not long after I was initiated, I noticed that my pants or shirt would on many occasion get torn. Even newly bought shirts or jeans will also have this effect. I also stop buying slightly more expensive khakis pants as most will last a month or so. Jeans that wore for 3-4 times will out of nowhere get torn.

Later I understand that option 3 was already being enforced on me. Considering the other 2 options available, I was glad that I got number 3. I have met some other Dao Fa practitioner that teach me how to work within the option, new shirts that I bought must purposely be punctured in some hidden area to materialize this imperfection.

Which is why, when some friends or people I know asked whether can they be initiated into learning Dao Fa, usually I just smile and say “ It is not as simple as what you see, there are a lot of ‘terms and conditions’ involved.

A Case brought to City God Temple 城隍庙

Sometime back since I have update the blog, due to a very busy schedule and also lots of unexpected errands. One of these errands had been trying to get a fair warranty claim for my car. Finally it was resolved and I have to thank our Penang City God for the major part of the credit.

I have called up the Penang dealer in charge of my purchase and services. They gave lots of excuses and try to pass the problem to the manufacturer rep in Kuala Lumpur. The manufacturer rep told me only the manufacturer can approve the claim which is in Germany. After a whole lot of communication with Penang dealer and Kuala Lumpur rep, nothing was done and it seems as if I have hit a wall in getting through to the right channel and people( the claim problem started sometime after Chinese New Year – Feb 14).

Finally I was so fed up 2 weeks ago, I have decided to bring my case to the City God. Every major city with Chinese population will have a City God Temple. They are in charge of all the after-life matters for a Taoist. Another important role of the City God and his officers is to govern all that happens spiritually in the city. In front of the City God Temple, it is enacted a Chinese poem that simply translated “No matter how smart, wealthy or intelligent you are, finally you will also need to come by this place”

City God Temple is one of the temple in town that I will walk in and pay my respect if I happen to be in the area.

One of my spiritual masters always reminds me, if you are starting to cultivate, make sure you learn to cultivate an affinity with Earth Deities (which include Earth God, mid level deities etc). Which hence, you read a major part of my encounters is with Earth Deities. Many cultivators like to have a sense of grandeur in which they only pay respect to high level or high ranking deities and shun or ignore Earth God and mid level deities. My spiritual master would always say “ If you cannot even have an affinity with Earth God and mid level deities, then how are you able to develop an affinity with higher deities. It is not logical even from spiritual perspective!”

Coming back to the City God Temple, I am very familiar with the temple keepers as each time my visit to the temple with have offering of a big josstick when I conclude my respect to all the deities in the temple. Even the unfortunate beggars of the temple can recognize me.

For this particular case, after I have offered my respect to all deities in the temple, I lit up a particular number of joss sticks and kneel down in front of the City God Statue and went into meditative stabilization. It is very seldom that I go into meditative stabilization in temple especially this particular temple. When I went into it, I can feel the ground shaking, something like a level 3-4 earthquake.

Immediately I conveyed my name, address and spiritual background. I have then sincerely requested the help of the City God to my particular case, stating that in his governance there are unscrupulous business people going around trying to cheat on others (referring to the car dealer in charge of sales of service of my car). After which I have concluded my prayers and respect to all deities in the temple. I went to the temple on Saturday. On following Monday, I received a call from the car dealer informing me that they will ‘settle’ the problem of my car regardless of whether the warranty claim is recognized by the car manufacturer.

I went back to the dealer service center on Thursday, but after I drove my car there, once again the customer service manager tried to avoid the earlier promise and asked me to wait for the manufacturer representative in Kuala Lumpur on whether it is claimable. Then on the following Monday, nothing was done on my car and I was thinking to myself whether I should re-visit City God Temple. I received an email response from Germany later that morning saying they will definitely asked Kuala Lumpur(KL) rep office to handle my problem. By Tuesday morning I received a call from KL rep office to apologize and 15 minutes later I received a call from Penang dealer asking me when I can drive my car in for the replacement.

City God Office is by far the most effective and efficient compare to any physical world major corporation.

Pearls of Animal with Djins, Elemental and Spirits

This update of my blog article, I decide to share with readers some spiritual items I have acquired throughout the years. Most of it has been given to me by close friends or fellow cultivators.

These few items have been given to me by my close friends in Indonesia. They are bezoar stones or some people would like to call them pearls. Bezoar stones are usually produce by animals when they have ingested some undigestable material into their stomach and over time produces a stone like formations.

Usually these stones are only found in large animal that have live a long period of time. Not all animal would have bezoar. It is also said that animal that have spirit residing or cultivating in them would have these bezoar stones.

When my friend gave one to me long time ago, I was actually very skeptical about it. He told me that there are actually spirit residing in it. However when I hold it in my hand, I could actually feel a surge of energy flowing up the arm. Then I concentrate and go into meditative stabilisation and could see a spirit figure. These spirit figures are actually cultivating spirits residing within these pearls. The Indonesian shaman would called these spirit figures Djins. BUT they are not like those movie genies, where you can wish for anything and they will grant it. If it is so, then I would quit my day job!

Suprisingly, from what I found, most of them does not actually conform to any standard religion, but they do work from the Light. Meaning cultivating and gaining merits for their own evolution.

These pearls are acquired from the deep jungles of Indonesia and animals having these pearls are not killed, but using a specific ritual by specialized shaman, they are able to gain these pearls. Sometimes these pearls are also hidden in deep caves or special holy sites and or holy grounds. Upon which its sense of energy can only be detected by those specialized shaman.

This pearl belong to a Tiger spirit, unlike normal pearls, this pearl is left by a Tiger Djins on a holy site. It was acquired in the Sumatra region by the local shaman. The spirit that I have detected is female spirit.

The second pearl is a Cobra snake spirit pearl. Belong to a Cobra Djin. The spirit I have detected is also a female spirit.

The third pearl is a Centipede pearl. This pearl is acquired in the Kalimantan jungle. Male spirit.

Many people would usually sell centipede pearl to gamblers, in which they say would give them an extra edge while gambling by using the inherent spirit to help them in their activity. How true it is? I have no idea, because one of my precept in Taoism is to abstain from gambling of any kind.

The fourth and fifth pearl is tiger and also centipede pearl, both is much smaller in size compare to those above.

The sixth one is not a pearl but actually derive from a tree fossil that has been hit by lightning bolt. Indonesian shaman took the fossil and carved it into a shape of an axe. I have also detected a form of energy inside the fossil but much closer to elemental than Djins.

The seventh is a special kind of wood that is being consecrated by Indonesian shaman to house a specific Djins. Communication with the Djins required special bonding and consecration process.

Human beings that have cultivated highly would also leave behind pearls. These are usually found after the cultivators body is cremated. Mostly found in highly cultivated Buddhist monk. These relics are called Sarira.

These animal pearls that I have shared with you all housed Djins, Elemental or spirits. Nevertheless, I urge you not to simply go out and buy any that is available on the internet or in the market today. Because current gemology does not have any standard testing equipment to verify these pearls whether they are real or fake. Furthermore you will need someone who can detect the spirits of these pearls to verify it. For example, there are newspaper report that individuals have actually spent RM10,000 to acquire a small piece of centipede pearls. But usually these buyers are still not able to verify its authenticity.

Plus upon acquiring these pearls, if you are not spiritually keen, there is possibility of backfire from the Djins or spirits. Definitely not something you would want to mess around with, if you do not know what you are doing.

Another encounter with Earth Deities

Chinese New Year has always been a busy period personally and also spiritually. This year with the form up of the Kam Dong Shan temple, there were more activities going on during this period.

This case has to do with the Earth God or commonly known as 土地公 (Tu Di Gong) and one of our temple member and also a close acquaintence Daniel (not his real name).

Since last year he has been going through some stroke of below average luck. And at the end of last year, even his facial colours shows quite dull colours around the forehead and also cheek area.

Evidently in his BaZi, he is going through some not so smooth period. Feng Shui wise, there is nothing wrong with his house. Therefore I have tried to help him through Taoist spiritual method. Daniel is also a Taoist cultivator, in which I personally also know his character and in this case try to help him as much as I can through our temple main deities.

He has requested the benefactors talisman, burn it and no result at all. After which, I have requested for the summoning the earth god talisman for him. He burn it and only minor result. After this 2 account, his case become a real curiousity for me. Using Taoist method, under normal circumstances a person will be seeing some result in term of money, but will later spend it off due to their BaZi influence. For example, obtaining some sales (as Daniel is in sales), some surge in income but later spend it off on some other things or events. Unless they know the method of how to get the energy to circulate.

In this case however, nothing. After which, I have requested from our deities a luck changing set of talisman. When I gave him the set, I have specifically inform him that if this does not work, then you really have to wait for your luck to change.

During Chinese New Year fourth day, I have the chance of meeting up Daniel together with some other friends from KL. When the meet up ended, I drove Daniel back to his place. He generously invited me to his home and have a look at his altar. He had just move into this house for about 2 months.

When I was in his altar room, I have decided to go into meditative stabilisation and enquire about his case from his house Earth God. In my mind, a form of an elder lady appeared. Earth God will not necessarily be a man, sometimes it can be a woman spirit. This also confirms Daniel earlier hunch in which his house Earth God is an elderly lady. So without any hesitation, I politely ask the Earth God, what happen? Because Daniel had burn so many summoning talisman and also gold paper offering. The answer I have received from the Earth God, is that she is unable to help him in any financial matters. Because she does not have enough energy to give him back. She mentioned that she can only help in keeping the house safe and health matters.

Then my next question to the Earth God was “ Is there any other way to help Daniel on his financial matters?”. She told me that the outside 'Datuk' (another form of localized Earth Deity that usually would be in charge of a specific area) at his apartment compound can provide the financial help Daniel needed. She informed me that all Daniel needs to do, is to pay respect more often to the 'Datuk'. Immediately I've asked Daniel, whether is there any 'Datuk' around his apartment compound. Just to make sure I was not imagining things, sometimes the scientific part of my mind needs to make sure I am not going crazy :) . According to Daniel, there is indeed a Datuk house in his apartment compound but he only pay respect once after he moved in.

In brief, I then inform Daniel to pay respect more often to his area Earth Deity. 4 days after this, yesterday evening 8th day of Chinese New Year, I have received a call from Daniel. He told me the day before, he went to a local tourism event and had parked his car at a person's property. Upon leaving he discovered that the front of his car had 2 big scratch mark, obviously left by the owner of the parking space. Daniel decided to try his luck with local 4Digits on his car number. In a surprise to him, his car number became the first prize number. He won about RM1k plus.

I was very glad for him, because to us that is familiar with Taoist method, once there is a turning sign – it means that the momentum of change has started in regards to his luck. All we need is that leverage. It does not mean that he will win bigger prize in 4Digits, because the odds is almost impossible no matter what methods a person use in gambling long term.

Earth God or Earth Deities is different in each house. Some people will choose to pay respect and offering to the Earth God and some do not. Either circumstances, the Earth God is already there. They are there in the house way before any owner, essentially they are the spirit of that particular land. Even in other cultures, I have noticed that they also pay respect to the spirit of the house or the land. Essentially this is the same as the Taoist setting up a place for the Earth God. Earth God is also classified as a form of Wealth Deities, even though their ranking is not high in the spiritual world, but their connection is somewhat the closest to us human beings.

Spring Cleaning and Cleansing

Before every Chinese New Year, traditional custom is to have a cleaning of the house to welcome the New Year. And usually we will name it the great Spring-cleaning.

In Taoism and Feng Shui, not only physically cleaning the house and its environment, but also clearing away stagnant and bad Qi or energy that is in the house. Therefore we are not only cleaning the house but also cleansing it before the New Year.

In Taoism the traditional method, upon finishing the physical cleaning, the next step is to cleanse the house Qi using 2 types of Chinese Herbs, 藿香 Huo Xiang and 甘草 Gan Cao and combine it with pure sandalwood powder. When these 3 ingredients is burn together, the smoke that it produces will cleanse the environment of any malignant or stagnant Qi.

And for this cleansing process, as a Taoist I would usually add the Hua Sha Fu 化杀符（talisman to neutralize Sha).The talisman is burn on top of the mixture before the starting of the fire. Therefore spiritually cleansing every corner of the house.

As this year, the Coming of Spring 立春（Feb 4^th) happens to be earlier than Lunar New Year (February 14^th) , the cleansing should be done before Feb 4th.

If you happen to be one of the last minute cleaners, doing it after February 4^th is also as possible.

How does Taoist Talisman work?

When I travel around different countries to teach Chinese Metaphysics. Most of the time, I will encounter one or two students who are very keen to learn more about spiritual Taoism as some of them know about my background.

And their questions would often lead to this particular subject “How does a Taoist Talisman work?” Because coming from the Western culture perspective, it is often difficult if not impossible to comprehend, how does a piece of yellow paper makes a difference spiritually or towards a particular situation.

When a talisman is drawn, often times is from a lineage that already have the framework of the talisman that has been passed through generations of disciples. So in essence those frameworks, order of wordings are already understood in the spiritual dimension. So when the talisman is burn or being displayed, instantly the responsible deities or spirits would recognize the order or command that is drawn on the talisman.

Furthermore after the talisman is drawn, deities must be invited to imprint their energy signature on the talisman. And who can invite those deities? Only those that are officially being initiated into a particular Taoist lineage or Sect. Sometimes you can also see that in Taoist temples, they will have t deities seal either made of wood or stone. These seal will also serve as an energy imprint.

Therefore there is three layers of filter

The talisman must be recognize by the lineage
Talisman must have energy imprint of the deities
Only officially initiated Taoist lineage members would be able to invite the deities for talisman imprint.

There are also exceptions to point 1. Whereby the talisman is not found on the lineage records, either the situation is unique or through special circumstances.This is when the person has a direct clear link to their lineage deities, and are able to draw out the talisman as according to the instructions of the deities. It is also when you observe, some talisman does not have any Chinese recognizable character on it, just scribbles of red cinnabar or black ink. In this situation, the deities would usually link through a particular medium, and just do an energy imprint on the talisman paper.

Some common Q & A

What about those talisman that is mass printed?

It must have an energy imprint, after it has been printed. If there is no energy imprint, the talisman would not be able to function. When a person burn a talisman that does not have any energy imprint of the deities, then it is similar to sending spam mail to your JUNKMAIL BOX in the spiritual dimension.

Does it work?

As long as it is correctly imprinted, it will work 100% of the time. Talisman purpose is usually to have the fastest effect in the shortest time possible. However, it will only rectify the problem. If the problem is deeply rooted on some karmic influence, then it is similar to taking paraceptamol for a brain tumor. Such as burning and displaying talisman would help for the energy of a house, however if the Feng Shui is not suitable for the person, then all effects are only for a short period of time.

Would it help in generating better luck for me?

I have seen cases that when a person in not in such a good luck period or a bad year, talisman are able to help them boost their luck. When it is boost up, the person needs to do charitable activities for the money that they obtained. In the spiritual dimension, everything is in forms of energy. Money is also a form of energy. When the person obtain a sudden boost of energy, they need to release it back in a good cause to the world or surrounding people. Therefore that energy is able to multiply and flow back to the person. If they hoard the boost of energy, then they have put a dead stop to the flow. Which often times, after they boost their luck, they are either back to square one or worst.

It has been 3 months since I've last update the blog. Time flies in quantum speed when your hands are trying to manifest what is in your mind.

Finally our temple Kam Dong San 金洞山 is open (Our Facebook page). When I think back, the journey took me 6 years to finally see the physical manifestation of our goals and vision. And this is just the first step for the temple.

Consecrating Deities

6 years ago when I was officially initiated in Feng Huo Yuan 风火院 Liu Ren Branch of Taoism, I did make a promise to all the Shi Gong 师公 that I will try my best to setup a temple for them in Penang. Before the official initiation, about 20 years ago, I found out that I have good abilities to enter meditative stabilisation. And can start to differentiate colors, shapes and object easily when my brain is in Alpha state or lower. But did not think of it much, as a young teenager just trying to experiment different ways to memorize things easily in secondary school and college.

But one thing led to another, as if there is a map that leads me to various groups of people that supported the cause of setting up the temple ever since the initiation. When you are inline with a vision for a higher purpose, usually there will be people and circumstances to lead you on the correct path.

Our temple host a total of 18 main deities in statue form and 25 more in our lineage Feng Huo Yuan and Fu Ying Guan 伏英馆listing.

Our principle deities are 金英祖师 Jin Yin Zu Shi, 潮源祖师 Chao Yuan Zu Shi and茅山祖师 Mao Shan Zu Shi. In our lineage, all altar or temple grounds would have principle deities, as these principle deities would be the disciples connection to the spiritual world.

Burning of Talisman to Invite Heavenly Marshall

Some people when they hear the word Mao Shan, instantly they would relate to black Taoist magic or hex. In actual fact, Shang Qing Mao Shan is one of the earlier branch of Taoist Fa 道法. It has nothing to do with black magic or hex.

It is later, that in South East Asia with the movies and also unscrupolous con-man/woman claim that they are Mao Shan Sect and started spreading that they can do black magic in accordance to the Mao Shan way. They are what we call Xia Mao下茅 sect. In which they evoke ghost and spirits to do their bidding.

The temple is also registered under the Malaysian Association Act as a non-profit charitable organisation. It is our Vision to expand and re-introduce to the general public on Religious Taoism and promote charitable community events.

Setting up is entirely on the generous donation of public and our on-going activities are also non-profit oriented. However we do welcome the generosity of the public in supporting our causes.

Today decide to change the prayer flag on front of my house. Often times, friends will get a little bit confuse when they see Tibetian prayer flag.

One of the Tibetian prayer flag usage is to pass the mantras through the when you hang it up in the mountain areas or near the vicinity of your home.

Each time the wind blows on those flag, the mantras would have travelled through the winds.

After Effects of knocking and Drilling

Received a SMS from my client 3 days ago informing me that things are not going smooth for them after they move into their new house. I was quite surprised by the chronology of events that happened according to her accounts.

It includes knocking of head that requires sticthing, accident of car, fell down the bed while sleeping and even diarrhea.

If unsuitability of the person Bazi to their allocated placement, that would not happen, not accidents that involves the whole household continously.

Then I ask her "Did you do any knocking or drilling after you moved in?" She told me that actually after moving in they have done quite a number of knocking and drilling including trying to fix some water leakage problem at the back of the house.

Every year there are certain locations that must not be knock or drill for the duration of the year. This year it is the North, NorthEast and also East. Apparently by knocking and drilling all over after they have moved in, they have actually triggered all there is to trigger in relation to sha qi position of the year.

What do you do if you have triggered sha qi? Actually all you can do is wait for the strong qi to disperse. Which in their case it's going to be after some time.

There is one method which is true spiritual method - by using of talisman. Initially I was quite reserved about suggesting his to her. I do not like to mix Feng Shui with spiritual method as clients would thought this guy has gone vodoo or what?

Anyhow to contain the damage in the shortest time possible, I had no choice but to suggest this remedy.

In our Taoist lineage, we do not accept or expect any forms of monetary payments for any of the spiritual process. Now I am still waiting for the last process of consecration so that I can pass to her immediately.

Moral of the story, do not simply knock anywhere in your house, when the year is not favorable and you hit strong sha, help is not always ready to contain the damage.

Encounters on the sea

Spiritual encounters or incidents can happen anywhere as long as we can find humans in those places we can also find spirits.

Yesterday I was on board of a ship to help out on bardo deliverance of a single spirit that is attached to the ship. This case was already taken up by a local famous temple and I was there just to help out.

When we left shore on a smaller boat, the whole sky had low clouds surrounding us, I am actually quite worried that it would rain before we finish what we are suppose to do.

When we arrive onboard the vessel, the sky actually got darker. Anyhow we setup all the praying articles as according to the instruction from the temple.

After setup we still had to wait an hour, as the time we told the deities were 6pm. The spirit was confirmed by the deities to be inside the engine room. Then upon entering the engine room, I can sense the spirit is at the corner room of the engine room, the only place where it is slightly more quiet compare to other areas.

Then as the clouds got more dense before the agreed time, all of us got more worried.

On the spot, I have to go into meditative stabilisation and request my deities if it is possible to extend the storm. Answer I received was the latest was by 6:30pm. After about 10 minutes, there was an 'opening' in the sky with sunlight, so I knew it was a good sign. Whenever there is a sign in the clouds usually would mean that the spiritual process would be completed successfully.

While the sky on the other place is still heavily dense grey sky.

Finally the ship owner did the process of inviting the deities to help deliver the spirit. After the whole process is done, I have return to the engine room again, and this time cannot sense the spirit anymore.

This is just the first week of the 7th lunar month, I have a feeling it is going to be a long month ahead.

Liu Ren Xian Shi Celebration －六壬仙师

Chinese Lunar 6 Month 22nd Day is the a celebration day for Liu Ren Xian Shi. There is 3 celebration for Liu Ren Xian Shi in a year. As Liu Ren Xian Shi usually the celebration is for the whole pantheon of deities under Liu Ren lineage. Most of the time is not less than 20 Taoist Deities.

As it will be quite troublesome and hard to remember, therefore from early on the celebration is group into 3 times in a year.

This will be last time the celebration is held in my home, and most certain the next one will be held in our upcoming temple. This morning about 6 more additional members were officially initiated into our lineage. Initiation includes submitting name, date of birth and reciting the edicts before burning it.

After which members were also given talisman to be swallowed as a form of blessing transfer. We have taken great care into obtaining the edible cinnabar 朱砂 that is turned into vermillion. Edible type essentially cost 20x more than those usually available in joss stick shops. Essentially these 2 contain mercuric compound and deemed to be poisonous. Therefore very minute amount is added.

Nowadays most of the vermillion for talisman has been substitute with red food colouring.The best effect are still those that use edible vermillion.

Solar Eclipse of the Century

I almost forgot about the eclipse 3 days ago. Went about my busy schedule as usual. Several clients call up to ask for dates for their renovation. I went through the 10,000 years Chinese calendar looking for good dates for them. I did not manage to get any dates at all, the closest possible dates was on 1 August. Gone through several system of selection and the result is still the same.

Yesterday, suddenly remember about the eclipse and it all makes sense. In majority of Chinese Metaphysic system, we would use the Chinese Solar Calendar 六十甲子 to select the Heavenly Stem天干 and Earthly Branches 地支. When eclipse is about to happen or within that 7 days, the is not a good date in the selection. Even though I totally forgot about this event 3 days ago. If you are planning any major renovation or knocking around your house, it is advisable to wait until August to do it.

Reactive...Time for a change

Today sent my VW for routine service in Butterworth and while waiting for service to complete did manage to meet up with fellow Taoist disciples there. Visit 3 temples in the Butterworth area today, the new Dou Mu Gong. Did not manage to get any photos as I was just passing time while waiting. Followed by the old temple of Dou Mu Gong and then to a fellow old and retired Liu Ren Xian Shi temple.

The new temple was of course in its grand majestic form. The older temple of Dou Mu is in a serene state of peace. The Liu Ren Xian Shi temple however was in a state of abandon. Even though there is a caretaker, however they no longer provide any ‘consultation’ services for their followers. Mostly people will just come back to offer prayers on the 1^st and 15^th lunar days of the month.

Even though Dou Mu Gong was one of the few recent build up temples for Taoist, on the whole Taoist followers are on the decline. Several reasons for this.

1. Taoist temples rarely offer any guidance to those that visit to offer respect. Mainly is just offering of joss stick and most of the time you are on your own. Leading to point

2. Therefore most people are not sure what they are suppose to do or how to go about offering respect. Why? What? How? When? All is not answered. Most of time people are playing the guessing game and follow the crowd mentality.

3. Some tricksters would usually set up those mom and pop Taoist temple and would trick visitors with special services such as luck changing, increase of wealth rituals, or tell visitors that they have ghost or spirit attach to them and needs to be eradicated via some elaborate rituals that needs a certain fee to setup. This eventually lead to a generalization that most Taoist temple is a hideout place for tricksters and con artist

All these in the long run have created a very bad reputation for Taoist temples everywhere. And remaining others would usually visit Taoist temples only when they suspect they have some spiritual problems that cannot be solve easily.

Unlike Buddhist temple for example, most people would visit on a regular basis to learn Dharma, offer respect etc. Churches, mosques and even Synagogue would appeal to their ‘members’ as a spiritual asylum in their day to day or in time of need.

Taoist temple on the other hand, is on a reactive mode from a marketing perspective. Mainly following the mentality of Jiang Zi Ya. The sage Jiang Zi Ya, would always go fishing with a rod that does not have any bait attach to the hook of the fishing rod. His famous line is “ Those fish which is willing will bite the hook on its own”. Meaning that those that have affinity will only come look for Taoist teachings.

In this 21^st century, we have some many distractions and our attention span is getting shorter due to information overload. Waiting on a reactive mode will surely expect more decline if the trend continues.

I think its time we go into a pro-active mode.

Warding Off Pandemics

With the recent blowout of AH1N1 flu around the world. Many initially fear for the worst, but after a while some countries around the globe is starting to treat it as a normal seasonal flu due to its low mortality rate.As the saying goes “History often repeats itself”. As a Taoist, I have decided to search for any remedy towards this situation through the use of Taoist Talisman.

Great Venerable Sage Zhang Dao Ling @ Zhang Tian Shi – Taoist Sect becomes famous during a time of pandemics when both he and his disciples use talisman alone burn into the water source to help save many villages. A time when anti-biotic , penicillin and Tamiflu is not heard of yet. These mysterious sages just burn yellow pieces of paper with ink or cinnabar inscribe on it and are able to cure or ward of pandemics.

I have searched through my Taoist lineage records and journals; apparently there is a talisman that helps ward off pandemics. The talisman of inviting Master Jiang Ji Ya (below).

Does that mean a talisman can cure all? Definitely not. I subscribe to “believe in a higher source of power, but still wash your hand regularly”.

Journey into 'Tao Fa' 道法

My Taoist journey started quite awkwardly. Many years back, I have made an acquaintance with person by the name of Eddie Wong in London. It was him who introduced me to the Taoist Temple back here in Malaysia. Imagine going half way around the world, and being led back here to learn about Taoist ‘Fa’ （道法）.

Those who know how to consecrate and produce Taoist talisman is actually a dying breed. Younger generations are no longer being taught about this method. Part of the reason is also because of the heavy responsibility that comes with the knowledge. In our ever increasing speed of modern life, many old masters refuse to teach or pass down this knowledge for the fear of misuse.

Taoist “Fa” does not recognize what is good or what is bad. Whomever that knows the method and its secret would be able to initiate the spiritual command. The measure of good or bad is in the heart of the person. The effect is of course ‘ you sow what you reap’ .

Therefore lineage often being broken when one of the practitioner did not pass to someone they trust. I have also known some master whom refuse to pass the knowledge even to their own children!

Then you might be wondering, how come there is still so many talisman around especially those distributed by temples. Well, about half of the temple today that have mediums do not acquire the skills of Taoist ‘fa’ directly from a lineage. When they are in trance, usually the higher spirits would draw and consecrate the talisman for the devotees. Meaning the medium have no idea what he/she had drawn and how to consecrate it.

Those that learn Taoist ‘fa’ formally would know how to draw and also consecrate the talisman even without seeking permission from the deities/higher spirits. This latter group of people is of course slowly becoming ‘extinct’. My first learning of Taoist ‘Fa’ is also the same as the former, when first initiated into the lineage, my master would pass me several talisman that I need to ingest. Once ingested, then I would need to meditate for certain amount of time, every night and sometime in wee hours of morning. Soon in meditative stabilization, in Pali we call it Samadhi, a communication link is then established between myself and the guardian deities of my Taoist Sect.

So in my early days of learning, even when drawing talisman, most of the time I would just draw base on the ‘signal’ I have received. Much of the consecration process is done by the deities.
Then later, I have a chance to learn under a Taoist Master that initiate me into the Liu Ren 六壬法门。This is when he taught me the formal learning of Taoist ‘Fa’ , how to draw, consecrate, initiate, pull back or retrieve a Taoist command and edict.

Knowing and preserving the knowledge would not make someone rich over night or strike lottery, as contrary to what some people would believe. Drawing some talismans, burn and money would fall down from the sky. Instead most of us have been sworn in, to not receive any monetary returns through the usage of our skills in Tao Fa.

Celebration of Yin Marshall

On May 30 is the celebration for one of the 2 Yin Marshall 大爷佰。 We had a small celebration and offering at my own altar. Every year I would also draw a fan talisman to commemorate this day. For this year it is the same as well and the theme of the talisman is to help in wealth luck.

My own personal encounter with this 2 Yin Marshall is out of curiosity. About 2 years back, after finishing my meditation, I decided to ask the deities whether would I be able to invite this 2 Yin Marshall onto our altar grounds? The impression I have received in my focus was it is possible, but whether they would appear or not is entirely up to them.

And to my surprise they did appear, therefore the start of offering them a place on our altar grounds.

When one of my students from Moscow visited me, I have asked her to have a peek on the altar and immediately she told me ‘These 2 are death angels!’ She have no idea and background about Taoist deities, however she has the ability to see spirits as well.

Death Angels, Yin Marshall, Shinigami and many more other names. However their function is the same, which is to help the dead going to different planes of existence base on different religious beliefs. And base on my interviews with those who have Yin eyes, many would say that when these officers appear, they would be in a modern looking outfit with a normal face. Not those horror looking depictions we have in each of the different cultures.

Similar to Brad Pitt’s portrayal of Joe Black. Maybe not that good looking.

A fellow traveller

In my daily work, sometime the chances of bumping into others with spiritual background are often higher than usual.

2 weeks back, I was requested to be in KL to do 2 apartment audits for one of my regular client, Henry’s – (not his real name) sister and cousin brother.

Before hand Henry already briefly told me that his sister’s daughter, who is his niece, Maurice (not her real name) ever since small have the ability to see spirits.

Without thinking much about his niece’s ‘gift’ I went about to do Feng Shui audit for his sister. As I usually educate my client that Feng Shui and spiritual ability is totally 2 different things.

Feng Shui requires study and understanding of Classical Feng Shui principles to audit and also recommend a household or person in their harnessing of favorable Qi from the environment.

After my audit in Henry’s sister apartment, in my casual conversation with them, I asked Henry “When your niece sees or bump into spirits, does it appear in full color, black and white or just plain smoke?” Henry was baffled and he told me he needed to call Maurice or ask her to come back to really give me an answer on this.

Without hesitation, he called up Maurice and within 20 minutes she arrived at Henry’s place. So I was interested to find out whether Maurice have the ability to see spirits or it was through the ability of some other spirit around her.

Maurice told me that she only sees other spirit when she is very ill or fallen sick for some time. But she told me there is a certain spirit that is with her ever since she is young girl. She is currently in her late 20s. In my conversation with her, I can sense that her ‘teacher’ has arrived and just right beside her.

Master/teacher in our Taoist ‘Fa’ Section terminology meant that a cultivated spirit that is somehow attached to a person, usually they purpose is to help each other make merits in the physical world. Similar to having a spiritual guide.

Not only did I felt her presence, Henry and his wife and sister also felt her teacher’s presence, in which they experience tingling sensation all over their shoulders and arms. Anyhow I tried to relay some personal experience and experiences of others who have assigned spiritual guide to Maurice, just so she would be relaxed and more adapt to her situation.

Because to her, she may feel that her experience is unusual and at times also quite confusing because she does not know whether she is making up all these internally or really experiencing it. Therefore in my relaying of similar experiences to here, I hope that she can obtain some insights and also help her in her own cultivation.

After our conversation, Henry decided to take me for lunch at a nearby restaurant before sending me to KL Sentral.

During lunch, just to be sure – I have casually asked Maurice, “ Then can you see or know what kind of spirits are around me? Or can you just somehow describe them?”

Maurice said, “ I am not too sure but when I drive here, I have a vision of 2 person, 1 is a male person dressed up in old Tang Dynasty clothing and very polite facial expression and the other one is an animal head with human body”.

When she describe these 2 entities, then I can straight away confirmed she is not suffering from delusion or schizophrenia. Because these 2 teachers usually would be beside me. Therefore she got it all correct.

After the late lunch, we left in quite a hurry because the time was quite tight. When we approach Henry’s car, we were still talking about the conversation I have had with Maurice in the restaurant because all these seems bizarre and out of this world for Henry.

When he pressed his car’s central locking key, only his driver side door lock was open. My side the passenger side did not flip up. He tried several times by pressing his key but it did not flip up. Henry ended up have to go inside his car and manually flip up the lock on my side. He said he never had any problems with his car for so many years. This is the first time.

And after we drove for about 3 minutes, Maurice called up Henry and informed him that one of her teacher did not want to see me go, therefore ask me to mentally say good bye to her teacher. Now all of these make sense as to why his car door lock fail to open after so many attempts!.

On my train ride to KLIA, I manage to do a brief meditative stabilization and get some clues as to why she have these few cultivating spirits following her. I manage to relay to her what she needs to do and also what her teachers is trying to convey to her. And I have also promptly invited her and her teacher to attend our temple’s opening in September.

Most of the time encounter with the spiritual world is usually stranger than fiction. If this event were not being witness by Henry and his family, most of you reading this would find it very hard to believe including myself.

I have a feeling that our encounter with Maurice’s teacher and ability is just the beginning.

How it all started

Chinese New Year is always a good time to catch up with friends, family and also clients. After many years of focusing Qi Men Dun Jia and recently San Yuan Feng Shui series in different countries, I have decided to shift some attention back to my own home ground Penang, Malaysia.

What recently came as a shock to me was the person that introduces me to the horror side of Feng Shui is now using my name all over town as a reference that I am his student. In our line of work, there are only students that reference their teacher, very seldom does the teacher reference their students.

I can see dead people

Wow. How time flies. I decided to check my last posting after one of my recent client commented that I have not updated my site for quite some time.

Almost unbelievable 6 months have passed since my last posting. Anyhow many super natural events have occurred and most have quite long stories.

The one that have some good lesson to it is this one. The last posting about this couple Jack and Penny. Well, apparently ever since that incidence Jack will bump into spirits every now and then. He either sees them in smoky forms or as shadows.
And worst of all is that most of the time, he sees one or two walking outside his house perimeter. For his condition, in Taoism we call it opening of the Yin eyes. Yin eyes mean you will be able to see lower form spirits. Yang eyes on the other hand mean that you will be able to see higher cultivated spirits.

Jack would occasionally called me up to ask me to investigate is there something the spirit is trying to communicate when he bumps into them in his house. The reason why there is so much incoming and outgoing spirits at his home is because, for his house he did not consecrated a prayer altar. This in turn meant that the house is an open playground!

When you are subscribed to any form of religion, as long as you have a praying place at home, it meant that you are guarded by the spirits/deities/angels of that particular religion. If not then pretty much the territory is an open for all.

I have also not opted to seal his Yin eyes using Taoist method, because I also believe everything happen for a reason. Until that reason is known, best is to let nature takes its course.

And in December last year, there was a major Phra Phrom (4 Face Buddha) ceremony in Penang. I then relay this to Jack and ask him to go and attend the ceremony. If there is a major religious ceremony, usually the Yang Qi will be very strong and enough to clear off any Yin Qi sticking to a person's body. As just few days prior to the event, Jack once again bumps into some spirit inside his house.

After attending the ceremony, he was given a Phra Phrom amulet as a token of appreciation for his donation. After wearing that amulet, so far until today he have not bump into any spirits or sense their presence. Let's hope it stays that way for him.

Don't Change the Bus Half Way !

This incident happened about 2 months ago. One evening Jack and Penny (not their real name) decided to visit us, as Penny told my wife that Jack have something that he needs to tell me. Jack had been seeing shadows moving in his house for the past few days on that week itself. And he was asking me “Do you think it is my dad?”

How it all started is that when I was auditing their house about 6 months back, I noticed that the room his dad use to sleep was filled with a presence. The air is not moving even though the windows are open. So when I had a chance to meet up with Penny about a few months later, I have asked her to go to any temple that does bardo deliverance and submit Jack’s father name to it. Because I have a feeling that the father is still in the house.

Of course I did not mention to them that there is a spirit in the house when I did their Feng Shui audit, because Feng Shui and spiritual work does not mix or the client would be confused. After the bardo deliverance was completed, Jack was having this conversation with me about seeing shadows. So I promised him I would check it out for him. In my meditative stabilization, I saw a man wearing a western suit coming down from staircase in his home. I ask him “Why are you here?” and his reply was “This is my home”. I then ask why he does not go to the ancestral tablet area. He said “Nobody invited me.”

The next day, I gave Jack a call and ask him that when his father pass-away, did he wear a western suit. He thought for a while and confirmed it (not many Chinese in Malaysia wore a suit on their last day). I suggest to him 2 choices,

1. It is to do bardo deliverance again for the father, this time he has to attend to it personally.
2. To invite the father onto the ancestral tablet area.

Finally he decided for option 2. And after the ceremony, he no longer sees shadows moving in his house.

Why did we have this incident? It is because before his dad pass away, he use to pray to Taoist deities. But when he had a terminal illness, they decide to ask him to switch religion. That is the usual problem, because if all these while the person is associated with one religion, when they pass away, usually their subconscious will seek for the association with that religion for them to cross over.

If you change their religion nearing their exit time, they have no strong subconscious ties with the new religion that they have just embrace. Therefore they are stuck in physical plain unable to cross over.

Love your loved one dearly to allow them to choose their own religion. We have no right to choose it for them.

Amulet Craze coming to an end

My cousin from up north in Perlis rang me up about 6 months ago, asking whether I have heard about this thai amulet named Jatukham. About a year before that I was soaking up a lot of information about Thai White and Black Magic and happen to came upon this particular amulet.

He was quite excited as he said he paid RM350 to rent/purchase one from a famous temple in ChiangMai. I was thinking at the back of my mind that the craze is going to be over soon, because even my cousin from remote up north now has a Jatukham amulet in his altar!

Everybody has it, from the chicken rice seller, the parking attendant and even the caretaker of a famous Guan Yin temple in Penang.

I am not saying that the amulet does not have spiritual power. From a Taoist perspective, it takes quite a lot of energy and work to pass on spiritual energy onto an object, whether an amulet or otherwise. And the rate they are churning out these amulets is as fast as electronic component mass production factories. High spiritual power monks who can blessed alot of amulet in a day would also be tired. When I met up with him about 2 weeks ago during Ching Ming (All Souls Day), he said someone once offered him RM450 for it. But now most likely worth about RM100.

Much on the market currently are fakes which sells from USD5 - USD10. And those that command a high price, also runs a risk of acquiring fakes as well. The main question then is does thai amulets has any power? Of course yes, provided it is properly blessed by monks who have attained certain spiritual milestones. Similar to Taoist talisman, does those little piece of paper works when you burn it? It depends on who drew it and under what condition and the issuing deity.

Coming back to amulets, if you are interested in acquiring thai amulets, the best is to visit the temple in Thailand personally, get to know the monks and abbots then decide whether you wish to rent/purchase an amulet from that temple. Even in Malaysia and in Penang, we have some local Thai temples that issue amulets for devotees and usually it is free and you will give a donation as a good gesture in return. If you cannot visit a temple, then you would need to do some homework on reputable online stores for those amulets. Usually they have different classification for its purpose such as

1. Protection

2. Relationship

3. Wealth

And when you acquire any amulet usually it has a Katha or incantations that you need to recite everyday. Nothing in the spiritual world is a free ride, you need to do your part as well.

Chao Yuan Zhu Shi Birthday

On the 15th Day of the Second Lunar Month of Chinese calendar was the celebration date of 2 deities at my taoist altar which is Chao Yuan Zhu Shi and also Tai Shang Lao Jun. Every year at this date, It is customary that we will issue the Fan Talisman from Chao Yuan Zhu Shi as part of the celebration and the fan talisman can only be consecrated on this very day.

Those member that come back to the 'tan' 壇 (Chinese Unicode has to be active to view the character) will received the talisman if they ask for it. On the 1st and 15th day of the Lunar Month, would be a day for meditation and also reflection for most taoist cultivator.

Datuk's house on fire

Received a sms from James last week. "Sifu, the nantok at my workplace is on fire!!!" To track back the story.. James is a close friend who works at NazaWorld in AutoCity Juru, Penang. At his work place, there is an earth deity (usually people in Malaysia and Singapore called them 'Datuk' because sometime the earth god is from a Malay ethnic background). About 2 years ago, I have helped him installed a Datuk figurine on an existing Datuk worship location at his workplace.

Since then, more and more people around the AutoCity come and pray to the Datuk. Then about a year earlier, the owners of the AutoCity decided to build a bigger worship place.

However, it took almost a year for them to complete the 'house'. James did ask me about 8 months ago to check on what seems to be the problem for delay in completion. When I was at the site, I entered into meditative stabilization and the message I have received is that the Datuk does not want the house to be completed because there is no place for him at the new 'house'. Strangely, James told me 2 months ago that when he asked those who build the place, they confirmed that they shall move the Datuk in, once work is completed.

So coming back to present situation, I went straight to his work place upon receiving his sms. Because I felt somewhat involved as I was the one who installed the Datuk figurine. When I arrived at the site it was raining. I saw in my mind's eye that the Datuk was standing just beside the new 'house' and his previous location is all burnt down. The figurine is in black and white color, the urn is turn upside down and no sign of his old house anywhere to be seen. According to James, the security guard informed him that someone had burned the Datuk. The new 'house' next to the Datuk was consecrated and inside they place a marble plague with sign of 'Earth God' in Chinese. When I check, it was another deity that was installed onto the 'house' and not the Datuk.

To mediate the situation, I immediately seek permission from the new earth god, whether he will allow Datuk to be place in the new house. Upon granting the permission, I did a Taoist ritual on the spot and installed the Datuk next to the plague. While waiting for confirmation, suddenly the sun shine on us and the dark rain clouds disappear. "I think we have completed our job." I told James with a smile and as we left, then it started to rain again.

James called me up a day after the second installation, and he said he saw the person who builds up the new worship 'house'. According to the builder, the owner of the AutoCity hired a Feng Shui practitioner to consecrate the new 'house'. When the Feng Shui practitioner arrives at the site, he said the Datuk does not want to sit there anymore so they can burn the old place down including the figurine. Those who have some spiritual practice would know that you do not burn down existing earth deity worship location if you do not intend to move them to a new location.

There is something the public needs to be aware of, not all Feng Shui practitioner or master are capable of solving spiritual problems. And not all Spiritual practitioner or master can solve Feng Shui problems. That is a fact. The most dangerous ones are those that ONLY know either Feng Shui OR Spiritual System and PRETEND to be able to solve problems that are beyond their scope and capabilities. You should not expect your Feng Shui master to be able to do ghost busting OR expect your spiritual master to solve your Feng Shui problems. Now I am very interested to know what did happen to the Feng Shui practitioner after they burned down the Datuk's house since last week.

Yin Yang Journal was suppose to be up months ago. As always things get caught up in the ever busy schedule.

Anyway, welcome to my new blog on the spiritual world. As a Feng Shui practitioner for Yin and Yang house, encounter with the spiritual world is not uncommon. Even though we wish it would be less, when you are re-routing a person's destiny or enhancing it, 'in some of the time' the solution is not located on the same dimension with the problem at hand.

This blog will include most of my personal experience in my encounter with the spiritual world and all of the entry can be verified by those involved if needed. I will also include other close associates experiences if it is interesting enough or have some educational value for us.

Please be assured that the blog does not aim to promote you a religious system or idea, as most of my encounters involved people with different religous system. The aim however, is to enlighten the reader and at the same time let you be aware that there is a different plain of existence that sometimes crosses their path with ours. Mutual respect on most cases would be a good start.
