This post I am going to write about learning to shut up as time progress. It use to be in the past decade where I would specifically write an article, do a live or write a blog article whenever I wish to share with others on the not so right practice or perception or impressions that others may have about the spiritual world.

The fire in the heart or belly would be so strong that I am unable to contain my feelings and emotions to have the urge to have long extensive write up or talk just get my point across.

As time passed however especially this past 2 years, something seems to change for myself. Perhaps age, perhaps slowly become jaded, I have learn to shut up and not make a point or statement to those around me. I have learned that making a statement would not be a catalyst to spark a change especially for those that are adamant in their own spiritual stagnation.

Through out the years many that have asked for hints, pointers and even guidance on their spiritual journey, are actually asking for the sake of asking, the intention of the questions are very much for seeking ‘confirmation’ for what they already develop within, any answers that are not aligned with their answer are rejected as noise. Even though on the outlook the person may look agreeable to the answers that were given to them.

When I was young, I observed many elders in the spiritual field appear not interested in newbies or others who have approached them. Even those those newbies and eager learners appear really enthusiastic in their first few months or few years. Now I realized the full reason for those elders behaving so, as I am slowly becoming like them !

What is the point of making full explanation that span hours or even conversations that can spread across weeks, when in the end they appear to have heard or understood but in actual fact they have no wisdom to comprehend even simple sentences that can helped them progress on their path.

Some Master’s in Buddhism mentioned this as one’s wisdom has not yet opened up. Clutter with much attachment to the self. Wisdom is not given or learned as it need to ARISE from within, nothing will arise if nothing have been digested and contemplated.

If wisdom can be attained alone through learning, Shakyamuni Buddha would have attended a lot of courses and seminars. Maybe even participated in many podcasts (in today’s world) to finally achieved enlightenment. BUT he did it sitting quietly below a Bodhi tree, after he have met with different Masters.

Don’t ask for questions, if you cannot open to accept the possible answers.

Don’t be annoyed, if your questions bring up more questions from the one who is supposed to give you answers.

Not giving a reply, that itself is already a reply.

Further answers cannot be understood if you have not yet comprehend the first 3 answers given to you long time ago. Each new questions are actually continuation of your previous lack of understanding or comprehension.

No new method or technique can be given unless you exhaust the previous method fully.

Sometimes the confusion is not because of lack of intelligence but due to the lack of worldly merits to understand it. When the merit level arise, the answers automatically become obvious.
